Alan J Finlayson is the founder of The Finlayson Companies, a dynamic group of individual companies in which he holds a controlling ownership position.
Alan was raised on his parent's ranch in Montana and there learned the ability to work and the value of taking care of things. His father taught him how to improve things to better their condition, therefore improving their value. Alan's father taught him there is nothing he couldn't do. Alan was allowed to take things apart to see what made them tick, several cars however, never were put back together but "donated their bodies to science".
His interest in real estate grew over the years, and in 2000 decided to pursue real estate investing professionally. Alan learned (and continues to) from many experienced mentors and these lessons proved invaluable. Learning from others allowed Alan to stay out of the pitfalls which grabbed other investors and to grow his ownership and investment portfolio. With conservative investment techniques, The Finlayson Companies are poised to take advantage of the current market uncertainties.
Alan is currently part owner of two long term care companies.

Finlayson Foundation - Supporting education in particular is of interest to Alan and his wife Michelle. They formed the foundation to provide the "Don't Look Down" Entrepreneur Scholarship to a High School graduate each year who shows true entrepenurial spirit.
In the near future the Finlayson Foundation will also provide basic personal finance education materials to high school and adult school settings.
